A wave of sadness has engulfed the country after three young boys died following a fire at their house in Springfield, Westmoreland on Sunday night.
The remains of Jayden and Jorden Laing – both seven years old – and eight-year-old Adrianno Laing were found in the rubble of their house.
Their teenage sister was critically wounded and remains hospitalised in critical condition.
Reports suggest that the children were at home with their father about 9:40 pm on Sunday, when he lit a candle due to a power outage.
The father reportedly left the house, and shortly after, the house was engulfed in flames.
Despite the efforts of residents, the children could not be saved from the blaze.
At this time, firefighters are still trying to determine a cause for the blaze.
Education and Youth Minister, Fayval Williams, has since expressed condolences to the family of the deceased children.
She said counselling would have already began for the grieving family members and classmates of the deceased children.
