A 13-year-old male student was stabbed to death and his 22-year-old mentally-ill uncle detained following a dispute at the Morant Housing Scheme in Clarendon.
Dead is Omarion Haniford, a student of Kellits High School.
Reports are that on Sunday morning, sometime after 9:00 am, the teen and his uncle had an argument, during which a knife was brought into play.
The uncle then used the knife to stab him several times. The teen was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Unconfirmed reports are that the mentally-ill claimed he had heard voices in his head.
The attacker is now in custody at the Crofts Hill Police Station.
This is the third student to be murdered so far this month in Jamaica.
Several other students were also injured in a series of separate gun violence and stabbing incidents locally.
